Electrolytes and Water Bottles

I'm not even joking.  I got a slushie machine at the beginning of June and make had at least one slushie every day since then.  I killed the first machine at the end of August.  Freaked out.  Got a refund and ordered a different type, and I now I'm back to electrolytes in frozen slushie water every dang day. It's so much better than water. I know for a fact that there are a lot of us out here. 

Drinking water is hard. 

Drinking/eating a slushie is not as hard - while literally being harder.  

Don't worry! 

I'm writing recipes and have my recommendations ready.  DO NOT buy one until I can get those recommendations made.  I'm so serious. I just need to see how it does at making ice cream and even I will reveal all!

This is one of the first electrolyte powders, and in our option, it has endured for a reason.  They have an excellent selection of flavors and several variations such as sugar free, immunity, and sleep. Quirk's favorite flavors are Golden Cherry and the classic Lemon Lime.

Quirk's Note:  I drink all of my electrolyte powders in my 18oz Takeya Water Bottle. 18oz water to one packet of powder seems to be the perfect ratio for my tastebuds.

This one packs more punch than Liquid IV in both electrolytes and salty flavor.  If you are already drinking electrolyte supplements, then the saltiness will not be a surprise.  They have 2 levels: Workout Hydration and Weekend Recovery. 

Quirk's Note: I use the Blueberry Weekend Recovery as a booster when my POTS symptoms are really intense. Sometimes I'll even mix it with a Liquid IV because maybe I am impervious to salt.

Named after the IV concoction that started it all, this powder is not does not play.  It has the highest vitamin payoff by far.  The flavor is our least favorite of those listed, but is sometimes worth it for the vitamin density. You can get a variety pack to find the flavor you prefer.

Tablets instead of a powder.  These come in both swallow pills and chewable for quick absorption. The chewable comes in a ton of flavors.  We have been using these for years, since when they only had orange and peach, so we haven't tried the new flavors.  Peach is our current favorite.

Quirk's Note: If you are like my daughter and had rather not "pollute" your water with electrolyte powder, these tablets may work better for you. She carries a bottle of the chewables with her water bottle.

These one is for people that love energy drinks or want something sweeter than most electrolyte drink powders. They have paired up with Sonic to create drinks such as Cherry Limeade and Ocean Water.  These can also be purchased in bottles at many retail locations.

Quirk's Note: This is my 14yo's favorite. It's a bit too much for my 19yo and me.

This was the first reusable water bottle that I ever personally bought. Before, I used whatever water bottle we had been given by whatever company was handing them out.  I was a runner, therefore there were lots of water bottles.  But I wanted a specific one;  One that actually kept my drink cold, and wasn't too heavy when full, thus 18oz, and that was cute, (yeah, it's always mattered). 

And that's how I found myself in the sports aisles at Target getting my pink 18oz Takeya insulated water bottle in 2018.  

I know so much about it because I used it to hold part of my slushie yesterday. 

I still love it.  

That's a good thing because they out number us now.  I have 3 in my Portland apartment.

I know that are at least 4 more in Kentucky.

I buy new seals as needed, which for us is about once a year.  Otherwise, they are still in mint condition.  The sizes now range from 18oz to a 40oz travel mug. If you want a 40oz Travel Mug that only uses a clear straw, this one is perfection. 

These don't get loaned. It could ruin a friendship.

This is the baby of our pack.  I had been looking at them for at least a year.  I was interested in the dual drinking system, but just wasn't sure if it would work for me due to swallowing issues.

Eventually, the ridiculous cute designs and the dual drink system won me over and everyone got one for Christmas last year. We went with a bigger size in these. My girls use theirs daily. They LOVE the pattens and color blocking and I totally agree.  They are ridiculously cute. 

My very personal and ridiculously specific downside is: 

The spout does confuse me a little.  I have to think about how I'm going to drink specifically before I take a drink or I will cough. I have a swallow disorder.  It's not them, (cough, cough) it's me.

Now, all of that said,  The whole family still loves them.  One of our girls prefers the two use spout.  We all can't get enough of the gorgeous color blocking and are gaga over the new Owala FreeSip Tumbler with color blocking - like Strawberry Fields, are you kidding me?
